Tombe de la Famille Raspail

François Vincent Raspail was a prominent figure in 18th century France. He was a doctor, chemist as well as a politician. He got into trouble more than once for his socialist ideas He referred to prison as his second home.

He is buried in the same grave as his wife, Henriette Troussot (1799-1853), Jules Emile Raspail (1831-1887), engineer, and François Vincent Raspail (1823-1899), painter, engraver. The tomb is decorated with a representation of a spectrum as a shroud, one hand clinging to the bars representing the ghost of Mrs. Raspail who died during the imprisonment of her husband.
